Mytilene International Airport "Odysseas Elytis" (MJT), named after the Nobel Prize-winning poet, is the airport for the island of Lesbos, in the northeastern Aegean, Greece. It sits on the coast about 8 km (5 miles) from Mytilene, the island's capital. In 2025 it handled about 590,000 passengers.
Aegean Airlines flies to Athens and Thessaloniki, and Sky Express to Athens, Thessaloniki and the neighboring islands of Chios, Lemnos, Samos and Rhodes. In summer, SAS, Jet2, Enter Air, TAROM, Austrian Airlines, Transavia, Corendon, TUI fly and others bring visitors from Scandinavia, the UK, Poland, Romania, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Israel.
All flights use one small terminal for domestic and international flights; a new terminal is planned. Fraport Greece runs the airport, and car rental desks are on site.
From the airport, most visitors head into Mytilene, north to Molyvos and Petra, west to Eresos and Sigri, or to Plomari and the south coast.

Arrival tips for Mytilene International Airport
All flights arrive at the single small terminal. Flights from Athens and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks; if you come from outside the Schengen area, for example from the UK or Israel, you go through passport control, where non-EU visitors are registered in the EU's Entry/Exit System.
Outside, taxis, car rental and pre-booked cars are the main ways to leave the airport; two car rental companies have desks on site. Mytilene is about 8 km away, a short drive. Lesbos is a large island, so Molyvos, Petra and Eresos are well over an hour's drive. Pre-booked drivers usually meet you outside arrivals.
Greece is on Eastern European Time (EET), two hours ahead of the UK, and uses the euro.
