About Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport

Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport (SKB) is the main airport of St. Kitts and Nevis, on the island of St. Kitts in the Eastern Caribbean. It sits at Golden Rock on the northeastern edge of Basseterre, the capital, and is named after Robert L. Bradshaw, the first Premier of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla.

Long-haul flights come from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. American Airlines flies from Miami year-round, with seasonal flights from New York and Charlotte, and Delta, United, JetBlue, Air Canada Rouge and British Airways add routes from Atlanta, Newark, New York, Toronto and London Gatwick. Regional carriers such as Winair, InterCaribbean Airways, Sunrise Airways and Cape Air link St. Kitts with Antigua, Sint Maarten, Barbados, San Juan and other nearby islands.

All passenger flights use one terminal, with a single arrivals hall, and a private terminal beside it serves private jets and VIP passengers. The airport has one runway of about 2,439 m (8,000 ft).

The airport is about 3 km (2 miles) from downtown Basseterre and the Port Zante cruise pier, a drive of around 10 minutes. Most travelers continue to hotels in Basseterre and Frigate Bay, to South Friar's Bay, or along the Southeast Peninsula to Christophe Harbour. Nevis, the sister island, is reached by ferry from Basseterre or by the Sea Bridge car ferry from Major's Bay.

Arrival tips for Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport

Before you fly, complete the free online immigration and customs ED form at knatravelform.kn, and check whether your passport also needs an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), which visitors from the US and Canada must have. Your passport should be valid for six months beyond your stay.

After landing you walk into the terminal for immigration. Eligible passport holders can use the automated kiosks or the biometric corridor, and everyone else lines up at the officers' desks. Baggage claim is next, followed by customs, and then a single exit into the arrivals hall.

Outside the arrivals hall you find the taxi stand with its dispatcher and the car rental pickups. Taxis have no meters: fares are fixed by zone and posted at the airport, so confirm the total and whether it is in EC or US dollars before you set off. There are no public buses at the terminal.

St. Kitts is on Atlantic Standard Time all year, the same as Eastern Daylight Time in summer, and uses the Eastern Caribbean dollar, with US dollars widely accepted. Traffic drives on the left.

Car rental

Several agencies deliver cars at the airport. You need a temporary local driving permit, issued by the rental agency, and traffic drives on the left.

Ferry or Sea Bridge to Nevis

For Nevis, take a taxi or transfer to the passenger ferry terminal in Basseterre or to Major's Bay for the Sea Bridge car ferry. The crossing itself is short, but timetables are limited, so check the last departure.
