Airport Transportation in Cusco
Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.
After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.
Our airport transportation in Cusco takes you from Velasco Astete Airport to hotels around the Plaza de Armas, San Blas and the historic center, to Poroy station for the Machu Picchu trains, and on to the Sacred Valley towns of Urubamba and Ollantaytambo.
Cusco Airport Transfers
Cusco airport transfers start outside the arrivals exit of the single terminal, where your driver waits with a name sign; turn down the drivers who approach you in the hall. We track your flight, so the pickup follows your real landing time, and you choose the vehicle for your party, from a sedan for two to a van for a family or group with luggage.
Each Cusco airport transfer goes door to door to your hotel in the historic center, as close as a car can reach in the old streets, or to Poroy or Wanchaq station. Enter your address in the booking form to see the vehicles for your party before you pay. Heading straight to the Sacred Valley, to Pisac, Urubamba or Ollantaytambo? Enter the address in the booking form: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly. Machu Picchu itself cannot be reached by road: you continue by train from Ollantaytambo or from Poroy, near Cusco.
Cusco Airport Shuttle
Our Cusco airport shuttle is a private van for your party only, not a shared airport shuttle that waits to fill up and stops at other hotels. It leaves as soon as you have your bags, so you are not standing around at altitude, with room for suitcases and trekking gear, and suits families, groups and travelers starting the Inca Trail.
Landing at Cusco Airport
Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ) is inside Cusco, between the Wánchaq and San Sebastián districts, at about 3,310 m (10,860 ft). CORPAC runs it, and all flights use a single terminal with jet bridges, authorized taxi counters in arrivals and a PeruRail sales office. Since December 2025 the airport operates from 04:00 to 02:00 daily.
Most flights arrive from Lima, so most international travelers clear Peruvian immigration and customs in Lima and simply collect their bags in Cusco; only direct flights from abroad, such as from La Paz or Santiago, clear immigration here. After baggage claim you walk out of the arrivals exit, where pre-booked drivers wait.
Peru is on UTC−5 all year, with no daylight saving time. It uses the Peruvian sol.
Altitude
Cusco sits at about 3,400 m (11,150 ft). Many visitors feel short of breath or get headaches on arrival, so walk slowly, drink water, rest on the first day and go easy on alcohol.
Immigration in Lima
If you connect through Lima, you clear Peruvian immigration and customs there, so keep your passport handy for the domestic flight to Cusco.
Machu Picchu by train
No road reaches Machu Picchu. Trains leave from Poroy, near Cusco, and from Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley, so book your train before you plan your transfer.
Peruvian sol
Peru uses the sol (PEN); carry some soles in small notes for tips and markets.

How Cusco Airport pickup works
- 1
Clear arrivals
Immigration, baggage claim, then customs. Representatives can't enter those areas.
- 2
Meet your representative
At the meeting point in your confirmation. Check the company name before getting in.
- 3
Go straight there
No other stops, no other passengers.
Meet outside arrivals
Pre-booked drivers wait outside the arrivals exit of the single terminal with a name sign. Ignore drivers who approach you in the hall and check the company name before getting in.
Don't accept a ride from someone claiming to know your booking. Check the company name and reservation details before getting in.
Return trips and flight changes
Going back to the airport
Transportation can also be booked from your hotel, resort or vacation rental to Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport. Your pickup time covers the drive plus check-in, security and border procedures, and your airline's instructions come first. Give the correct departure time and terminal when you book.
If your flight changes
We monitor the arrival of the flight on your reservation, but can't find you on a different one. If any of these change, update them in Manage your booking:

Where will my driver meet me at Cusco Airport?
Outside the arrivals exit of the single terminal, holding a sign with your name, after baggage claim. Turn down the drivers who approach you in the hall.
How far is Cusco Airport from the historic center?
Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport is inside the city, about 3.7 km (2.3 miles) from the historic center, so the ride to the Plaza de Armas is short outside rush hour.
Is Cuzco the same as Cusco?
Yes. Cusco and Cuzco are two spellings of the same city, and both mean Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, code CUZ. Cusco is the spelling used in Peru today.
Can you take me to a hotel in the historic center or San Blas?
Yes. Give the full hotel name and address when you book. Some streets in the historic center and San Blas are narrow, steep or closed to cars, so your driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach.
Can you take me to Poroy station for the Machu Picchu train?
Yes. We drive you to Poroy station, near Cusco, for the trains to Machu Picchu. Give us your train time when you book, so the pickup leaves a comfortable margin.
Can you take me to the Sacred Valley?
Pisac, Urubamba and the other Sacred Valley towns lie northwest of Cusco, and many travelers go straight there on arrival because the valley is lower than the city. Enter the address in the booking form: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.
Can you take me to Ollantaytambo for the Machu Picchu train?
Ollantaytambo is at the far end of the Sacred Valley, where most Machu Picchu trains leave. Enter the address in the booking form: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.
Can you drive me to Machu Picchu?
No one can: Machu Picchu is not reachable by road. You take the train from Ollantaytambo or from Poroy, near Cusco, to Aguas Calientes, and then the bus up to the site. We can take you to either station.
How do I handle the altitude when I land in Cusco?
Cusco is at about 3,400 m (11,150 ft), so take it slowly: walk at an easy pace, drink water, rest on the first day and go easy on alcohol. A driver waiting at the exit means you are not carrying bags around at altitude.
Do I clear immigration at Cusco Airport?
Only if you fly in directly from abroad, such as from La Paz or Santiago. Most travelers connect through Lima, clear immigration and customs there, and arrive in Cusco on a domestic flight.
What are Cusco Airport's opening hours?
Since December 2025 the airport operates from 04:00 to 02:00 daily. We track your flight, so your driver is there for early morning and late evening arrivals alike.
Should I buy transportation from people offering rides inside Cusco Airport?
There is no need. Booking ahead gives you a confirmed vehicle and a meeting point before you land. If someone approaches you in arrivals, check the company name against your confirmation before getting in.
Can I book a ride back to Cusco Airport?
Yes. Book a one-way departure or a round trip from your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley, and give your flight number and departure time, so the pickup is set for check-in and security.
Is Airport Transportation the same as Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport?
No. Airport Transportation is a private transfer service that books rides from CUZ; we are not the airport or its operator. For terminals, airlines and other ways to get around, see our Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport page.

Do children pay differently than adults?
No. Prices are set per passenger range or per vehicle, not per age.
Is my reservation refundable?

Do drivers speak English?
Yes. While their English may not be native-level, drivers have the skills to communicate with passengers.
Are tips mandatory?
Tips are not mandatory but are highly recommended; drivers earn them through service quality.
What currencies are accepted?
All prices are in USD. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts the charge at its own exchange rate.
Are pets allowed?
We can transport domestic pets kept in cages that fit in a normal vehicle.
Is there room for luggage?
Yes. There is plenty of room for one suitcase and one carry-on per person.
What is included in the price?
