Landing at Medellín Airport
José María Córdova International Airport (MDE) is the main airport for Medellín and the Antioquia region, in Rionegro in the hills east of the city. Avianca is its largest airline.
All flights use one two-storey terminal with domestic and international gates. International passengers clear immigration, collect their bags and pass through customs into the same arrivals hall as domestic passengers.
The airport is at about 2,100 m (6,900 ft), higher and cooler than Medellín and often misty, while the city in the valley is warm all year. Colombia is on Colombia Time (UTC−5) all year, with no daylight saving.

Foreign visitors complete Migración Colombia's Check-MIG form online before the flight. Depending on your passport, you may also need a visa.

Is Medellín airport in Medellín?
No. The main airport (MDE) is in Rionegro, in the hills east of the city. Medellín also has Olaya Herrera Airport (EOH) inside the city, which handles small regional flights only.
How far is Medellín airport from El Poblado?
Since the Túnel de Oriente opened in 2019, the drive from José María Córdova to El Poblado and the city usually takes 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
Can you take me to El Poblado or Laureles?
Yes. We drive door to door to hotels, apartments and vacation rentals in El Poblado and Laureles.
Can you take me to Envigado?
Yes. We take you to hotels, apartments and family homes in Envigado, just south of El Poblado.
Can I go from Medellín airport straight to Guatapé?
Yes. Guatapé and its lake are east of the airport, in the same Oriente Antioqueño region, so a transfer from the airport avoids going into Medellín first.
Can you take me to Rionegro or other towns in the Oriente Antioqueño?
Yes. The airport is in Rionegro, and we drive to hotels, country houses and homes in Rionegro and the surrounding towns of the Oriente Antioqueño.
Can you pick me up from an apartment or vacation rental?
Yes. Arrivals and return trips can go to or from any address, including apartments, vacation rentals and gated buildings. Include the building name, apartment number and any gate instructions.
Should I buy a ride from people offering transport inside the terminal?

Baby seats are provided with prior notice, subject to availability, one seat maximum per vehicle.
How far in advance should I book?
You can book any time in advance; we suggest one week to one day ahead. Same-day reservations are available.

No. Prices are set per passenger range or per vehicle, not per age.
Is my reservation refundable?
Yes. Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your pick-up and you are refunded in full. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before service are not refundable.
Do drivers speak English?
Yes. While their English may not be native-level, drivers have the skills to communicate with passengers.
Are tips mandatory?
Tips are not mandatory but are highly recommended; drivers earn them through service quality.
What currencies are accepted?
All prices are in USD. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts the charge at its own exchange rate.
Are pets allowed?
We can transport domestic pets kept in cages that fit in a normal vehicle.
