Airport Transportation in Reno
Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Reno-Tahoe International Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.
After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.
Our airport transportation in Reno takes you to the casino hotels downtown and in Sparks, to Incline Village and the North Shore, to Truckee, Northstar and Palisades Tahoe, and to Stateline and South Lake Tahoe.
Reno Airport Transfers
Reno airport transfers start in the ground transportation loop outside Door D, north of baggage claim, where pre-arranged drivers pick up. We track your flight, so the pickup follows your real landing time, and the price for your vehicle is fixed before you fly, from a sedan for two to a van for a ski group with boards and bags.
Each Reno airport transfer goes door to door to your hotel, casino resort, cabin or vacation rental in Reno and Sparks or around Lake Tahoe, including the ski resorts. Going on to Sacramento, Kirkwood or Mammoth Lakes? Enter your address in the booking form to see whether a transfer is offered.
Reno Airport Shuttle
Our Reno airport shuttle is a private van for your party only, not a scheduled Tahoe shuttle that waits for other passengers and stops along the shore. It leaves when you have your bags, with room for skis, snowboards and golf clubs, and suits families and groups heading up to the lake.
Landing at Reno Airport
Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) has one terminal, with a central security checkpoint and two concourses: B, used by most airlines, and C, used mainly by Southwest. Most flights are domestic, so you walk from the gate to baggage claim with no passport check.
Passengers on the Volaris flight from Guadalajara go straight from the aircraft into the U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility next to the main terminal before entering the airport. Baggage claim and the rental car counters share one hall, and pickups for taxis, rideshare, shuttles and pre-arranged drivers are outside Door D.
Reno sits at about 4,400 feet. Nevada and the Lake Tahoe area are on Pacific Time and use the US dollar.
Entering the US
International visitors need a US visa or an approved ESTA before they fly. Most reach Reno on a domestic connection and clear immigration at their first US airport; only the Guadalajara flight clears customs in Reno.
Winter chain controls
Snowstorms bring chain controls on the Mount Rose Highway, Interstate 80 over Donner Summit and US 50, and roads can close for hours. Your driver follows the controls in force, so allow extra time on a stormy day.
Two states around the lake
Incline Village and Stateline are in Nevada, while Truckee, Palisades Tahoe and the city of South Lake Tahoe are in California. Give the full address and town, as some street names repeat around the lake.
Cabins and snowy driveways
Many Tahoe rentals sit on steep or private roads that may be unplowed in winter, so your driver stops at the nearest point a vehicle can safely reach.
Before you fly to Reno
How Reno Airport pickup works
- 1
Clear arrivals
Immigration, baggage claim, then customs. Representatives can't enter those areas.
- 2
Meet your representative
At the meeting point in your confirmation. Check the company name before getting in.
- 3
Go straight there
No other stops, no other passengers.
Meet at Door D
Pre-arranged drivers, limousines and shuttles pick up in the ground transportation loop outside Door D, north of baggage claim.
Waiting inside
Greeters can wait in the seating and family waiting area in the main terminal near Door D, by baggage claim.
Don't accept a ride from someone claiming to know your booking. Check the company name and reservation details before getting in.
Return trips and flight changes
Going back to the airport
Transportation can also be booked from your hotel, resort or vacation rental to Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Your pickup time covers the drive plus check-in, security and border procedures, and your airline's instructions come first. Give the correct departure time and terminal when you book.
If your flight changes
We monitor the arrival of the flight on your reservation, but can't find you on a different one. If any of these change, update them in Manage your booking:

Where will my driver meet me at Reno airport?
In the ground transportation loop outside Door D, just north of baggage claim, where pre-arranged pickups wait. Follow the meeting instructions in your confirmation.
How far is Reno airport from downtown Reno and Lake Tahoe?
Downtown Reno is about 3 miles away, roughly 10 minutes by car, and Sparks is just to the east. Incline Village and Truckee are each about 35 miles away, around 45 minutes to an hour, and South Lake Tahoe is about 60 miles, often 75 to 90 minutes; winter storms can add more.
Can you take me to Incline Village or the North Shore?
Yes. We drive over the Mount Rose Highway to Incline Village, Crystal Bay, Kings Beach and Tahoe City, door to door to your hotel or rental.
Can you take me to Truckee, Northstar or Palisades Tahoe?
Yes. We drive along Interstate 80 to Truckee, Northstar and Palisades Tahoe, with room for skis and snowboards when you book the right vehicle.
Can you take me to South Lake Tahoe or Stateline?
Yes. We drive to the casino hotels at Stateline, to South Lake Tahoe and to Heavenly Village, door to door.
Can you take me to Sacramento, Kirkwood or Mammoth Lakes?
These are farther from Reno. Enter your address in the booking form to see whether a transfer is offered.
Which terminal will I arrive at in Reno?
Reno has one terminal with two concourses, B and C, and every passenger exits to the same baggage claim. Your driver meets you outside Door D whichever concourse you land at.
Do you drive to cabins and vacation rentals around Lake Tahoe?
Yes. Give the full street address and town, and tell us about steep or private roads; in snow, your driver stops at the nearest point a vehicle can safely reach.
Do you pick up from late-night or early-morning flights?
Yes. Book with your flight number and your driver is scheduled for your actual arrival time, including late-evening landings when shuttles and buses have stopped running.
Should I take a ride from people offering transportation inside Reno airport?
There is no need. Booking ahead gives you a confirmed vehicle and a meeting point before you land; if someone approaches you, check the company name against your confirmation.
What happens if my flight is delayed or canceled?
We monitor the flight on your reservation, so your driver waits for the actual landing. If your flight number, date or airline changes, or your flight is canceled, update it in Manage your booking so the pickup can be moved.
Can I book a ride back to Reno airport?
Yes. Book a one-way departure or a round trip from your hotel, casino resort or rental. In winter, allow extra time for chain controls on the drive down from the lake.
Will snow affect my transfer to Lake Tahoe?
It can. Chain controls and road closures on the mountain passes can slow or delay the drive, so your driver follows the controls in force and the route that is open.
Is Airport Transportation the same as Reno-Tahoe International Airport?
No. Airport Transportation is a private transfer service that books rides from RNO; we are not the airport or its operator. For terminals, airlines and other ways to get around, see our Reno airport page.
