Landing at Toncontín Airport
Toncontín Airport (TGU), officially Teniente Coronel Hernán Acosta Mejía Airport, sits inside Tegucigalpa. Since December 2021 it handles domestic flights only; international flights to the capital land at Palmerola (XPL) near Comayagua.
Because every flight here is domestic, there is no immigration or customs on arrival. The terminal area is compact and baggage claim is quick on these short flights, so you reach the small arrivals exit within minutes of landing. Pre-booked drivers meet passengers just outside that exit.
Tegucigalpa keeps Central Standard Time (UTC−6) all year with no daylight saving time.
- Entry happens at your first Honduran airport: immigration and customs take place where you first enter Honduras, usually Palmerola, San Pedro Sula or Roatán, not at Toncontín.
- Check which airport you land at: if you are flying in from abroad, you will arrive at Palmerola (XPL), not Toncontín. Book that transfer on our Tegucigalpa (Palmerola) page.
- Give your domestic flight number: schedules on smaller domestic routes can change, so add your flight number when you book.
- Currency: Honduras uses the lempira (HNL); carry some small bills for purchases once you leave the airport.

Which flights arrive at Toncontín?
Domestic flights within Honduras. CM Airlines flies from Roatán, San Pedro Sula and Puerto Lempira, and Aerolíneas Sosa from Roatán and La Ceiba. Add your flight number when you book so your driver can follow your arrival.
Can you take me from Toncontín to my hotel in Tegucigalpa?

Commonly Toyota Hiace, Volkswagen Transporter, Mercedes Sprinter, Volkswagen Crafter, Chevrolet Tahoe, and Chevrolet Suburban.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We carry insurance with complete liability for all passengers while using our services.
Do you provide baby seats?
Baby seats are provided with prior notice, subject to availability, one seat maximum per vehicle.
How far in advance should I book?
You can book any time in advance; we suggest one week to one day ahead. Same-day reservations are available.
What payment methods are accepted?

Do children pay differently than adults?
No. Prices are set per passenger range or per vehicle, not per age.
Is my reservation refundable?
Yes. Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your pick-up and you are refunded in full. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before service are not refundable.
Do drivers speak English?
Yes. While their English may not be native-level, drivers have the skills to communicate with passengers.
Are tips mandatory?
Tips are not mandatory but are highly recommended; drivers earn them through service quality.
What currencies are accepted?
All prices are in USD. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts the charge at its own exchange rate.
Are pets allowed?
We can transport domestic pets kept in cages that fit in a normal vehicle.
Is there room for luggage?
Yes. There is plenty of room for one suitcase and one carry-on per person.
