Kefalonia International Airport (EFL), named after Anna Pollatou, is the airport for the island of Kefalonia (Cephalonia), in the Ionian Sea, Greece. It sits in the southwest of the island, about 8 km (5 miles) from the capital, Argostoli. In 2024 it handled about 870,000 passengers, most of them in summer.
Aegean Airlines and Sky Express fly year-round to Athens and other Greek airports. In summer, Jet2, TUI, easyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air and other airlines bring visitors from the UK, the biggest market by far, and from Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany and Israel.
All flights use a single terminal, rebuilt by Fraport Greece with new check-in desks, security lanes, baggage carousels and more car rental companies. There are no jet bridges, so you walk or take a bus to the plane.
From the airport, most visitors head to Argostoli and Lixouri, south to Lassi, Skala and Lourdas, north to Fiskardo and Assos, or to Sami and Poros for ferries and Myrtos Beach.

Arrival tips for Kefalonia International Airport
All flights arrive at the single terminal, usually by bus or on foot from the aircraft. Flights from Athens and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. If you come from outside the Schengen area, as many summer visitors do from the UK, you queue at passport control, where non-EU visitors are registered in the EU's Entry/Exit System. On summer weekends, when several charter flights land together, the small terminal gets busy.
Once you have your bags, head outside to the taxi rank, the car rental desks and the pick-up area. KTEL runs a limited bus service to Argostoli, so check the timetable before relying on it. Pre-booked drivers usually meet you in the arrivals area.
Kefalonia is a large, mountainous island, so resorts in the north, such as Fiskardo and Assos, are well over an hour's drive from the airport.
Greece is on Eastern European Time (EET), two hours ahead of the UK, and uses the euro.
