Arrival tips for Fortaleza–Pinto Martins International Airport
If you arrive from abroad, you pass Federal Police passport control and then customs; US, Canadian and Australian citizens have needed a Brazil e-visa again since April 10, 2025, so have it approved before you fly.
Baggage claim for domestic and international flights is on the first floor of the terminal, next to the car rental counters.
After you exit baggage claim, look for the fixed-fare taxi desks inside the arrivals hall or follow signs to the metered taxi rank. Ride apps such as Uber and 99 pick up on the ground level (piso 0), so follow the app signs downstairs. Pre-booked drivers usually wait in the arrivals hall with a name sign. Ignore people offering rides in the hall and use only official taxis, an app or your booked driver.
Fortaleza is hot and sunny all year, with most rain from February to May. The city is on UTC-3 with no daylight saving time, and Brazil uses the real (BRL).
