Santorini International Airport (JTR), also called Thira Airport, is the airport for the island of Santorini in the Cyclades, Greece. It sits on the east side of the island, just north of the beach village of Kamari, about 6 km (4 miles) southeast of the island's capital, Fira. In 2024 it handled about 2.9 million passengers.
Aegean Airlines, Olympic Air and Ryanair run scheduled flights, and many other airlines add seasonal and charter flights from spring to autumn. Greece is the biggest market, followed by the UK, Italy, France and Germany, and many visitors connect through Athens.
The airport is shared with the Greek military. Fraport Greece runs the civil side and has redesigned the apron so it can handle up to nine airliners at once, but the terminal can still be very crowded at peak times in summer.
From the airport, most visitors head to Fira, to Imerovigli and Oia along the caldera rim, to the beach villages of Kamari and Perissa, or to the old port and Athinios for ferries to the other islands.

Arrival tips for Santorini International Airport
All flights arrive at the single terminal. Flights from Athens and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. If you come from outside the Schengen area, for example from the UK, you queue at passport control, where non-EU visitors are registered in the EU's Entry/Exit System. In summer the terminal gets very crowded when several flights land together, so expect waits at passport control and baggage claim.
Once you have your bags, head outside to the taxi rank, the bus stop, hotel pickups and car rental. Buses run to Fira, where you can change for other villages. Santorini has a limited number of taxis, so queues can be long in high season. Pre-booked drivers usually meet you outside arrivals.
Oia and the caldera villages are narrow and partly pedestrian, so your car may stop at a drop-off point near your hotel rather than at the door.
Greece is on Eastern European Time (EET), two hours ahead of the UK, and uses the euro.
