Miami International Airport (MIA) serves Miami and South Florida and is the busiest US gateway for international passengers, with especially strong links to Latin America and the Caribbean. It sits about 6 miles (10 km) west-northwest of downtown Miami and handled about 55.3 million passengers in 2025.
American Airlines carries most of the airport's passengers and uses MIA as its main gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean. Delta, United, many Latin American airlines and long-haul carriers from Europe also fly here.
The airport has three connected terminal areas: the North Terminal (Concourse D, used by American, with its own Skytrain), the Central Terminal (Concourses E, F and G) and the South Terminal (Concourses H and J). There is an on-site hotel in the Central Terminal.
The free MIA Mover links the terminals with the Miami Intermodal Center, where the Metrorail Orange Line reaches downtown in about 15 minutes and Tri-Rail runs north. From the airport, travelers head to Miami Beach, Brickell, PortMiami for cruises, Coral Gables and the Florida Keys.

Arrival tips for Miami International Airport
MIA has three connected terminal areas, North, Central and South, and baggage claim is generally on Level 1.
If you arrive on an international flight, you clear US Customs and Border Protection in your arrival concourse before entering the public area; every concourse except G has a customs facility, so the exit depends on where you land. If you are eligible, Global Entry or Mobile Passport Control can shorten the line.
Domestic passengers follow the signs to their baggage carousel on Level 1.
Official taxi stands and ride-app pickup areas are on the arrivals level outside baggage claim. For rental cars and the Metrorail, follow the moving walkways on Level 3 to the MIA Mover station between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages. If you booked a private transfer, follow the terminal, door and meeting point in your confirmation, since drivers do not all meet at the same curb.
