About Piarco International Airport

Piarco International Airport (POS) is the main international airport of Trinidad and Tobago, serving Port of Spain and the island of Trinidad. It is the hub of Caribbean Airlines, which flies from here to Tobago, across the Caribbean, to Georgetown and Paramaribo, and to Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, New York and Toronto. American Airlines, JetBlue, United Airlines, Air Canada, British Airways, KLM and Copa Airlines link Piarco with North America, Europe and Panama, and regional carriers such as InterCaribbean Airways and Winair serve nearby islands.

All passenger flights use the North Terminal, with a western concourse for international airlines, an eastern concourse for Caribbean Airlines and a separate Tobago concourse for the short domestic flights to A.N.R. Robinson International Airport. The older South Terminal handles general aviation, cargo and helicopters.

The airport sits in Piarco, in the Tunapuna–Piarco region, about 30 km east of downtown Port of Spain. The drive takes around 30 minutes with light traffic, along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway, and much longer at rush hours.

From the airport, travelers head to Port of Spain, Woodbrook, St. Clair and the Queen's Park Savannah, to Maraval, Westmoorings and Chaguaramas in the northwest, to Maracas Bay on the north coast, to Arima and the Northern Range, and south to Chaguanas and San Fernando.

Arrival tips for Piarco International Airport

Before you fly, complete the online Arrival Card at travel.gov.tt, which replaced the paper immigration forms on 17 March 2026 and can be filled in up to 72 hours before travel. Many nationalities visit without a visa, but check your passport's status with the Immigration Division first.

International flights park at the western concourse (Gates 1 to 7) or, for Caribbean Airlines, the eastern concourse (Gates 8 to 14). Follow the Arrivals signs to immigration, then collect your bags at one of the four belts in the baggage hall and clear customs. Declare food, including meat, fruit and vegetables, along with gifts, alcohol, tobacco and commercial goods. Lost and transit baggage is handled in the customs hall baggage claim area.

The Arrivals Hall has car rental desks and places to eat, and the Atrium beyond it has ATMs, exchange bureaus and the Airport Information booth. Authorized taxis wait outside the Arrivals Hall; they are not metered, so agree the fare before you leave. Trinidad is on UTC-4 all year, and traffic drives on the left.

Ground transportation

A pre-booked transfer or an authorized taxi suits most arrivals, especially with luggage or after dark; the bus suits light travelers on weekdays.
