Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) serves Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia, and is the island's main gateway for long-haul flights. It sits about 4 km north of Vieux Fort town, at the southern tip of the island, and roughly 56 km south of the capital.
Airlines link UVF with North America and the United Kingdom. American Airlines flies to Miami and Charlotte, Delta Air Lines to Atlanta, JetBlue to New York–JFK, Air Canada Rouge and WestJet to Toronto, and British Airways to London Gatwick. United Airlines adds seasonal flights from Newark and Chicago, and some British Airways flights continue to Grenada, Tobago and Georgetown, Guyana.
The airport has one terminal for all arrivals and departures, next to a single 2,744 m runway. The Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority (SLASPA), which runs the airport, has a redevelopment project under way for a new three-storey terminal.
Because the airport is at the far south of the island, most resort areas are a long drive away. A taxi to Castries takes about an hour, and the trip to Rodney Bay in the north can take 1.5 to 2 hours. Soufrière, on the west coast near the Pitons, is the other common next stop.

Arrival tips for Hewanorra International Airport
Before you land, complete Saint Lucia's online Embarkation/Disembarkation (ED) form at stlucia.org/entry; you can also fill it in on board or at the airport using Wi-Fi. After immigration, collect your bags in the baggage hall and pass through customs. If you plan to drive, you can get a visitor driving permit at immigration or from your rental company.
Outside the terminal you will find the taxi stand, car rental desks and drivers waiting for pre-booked passengers. A St Lucia Tourist Board desk and a general information booth can help with questions. Taxis are not metered and take cash only, so agree the fare and the currency (EC or US dollars) before you set off. Allow plenty of time for the ride north: the roads are winding and traffic drives on the left.
Saint Lucia is warm all year. It is on Atlantic Standard Time (UTC−4) with no daylight saving time, and the currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar, with US dollars widely accepted.

Taxis wait outside the terminal. The ride to Castries takes about an hour and to Rodney Bay 1.5 to 2 hours. Fares are not metered and are paid in cash, so agree the price and currency first.
Private transfer
Pre-booked drivers meet passengers outside the arrivals exit and drive straight to the hotel. It avoids arranging a ride at the curb, but it has to be set up before you land.
Rental car
Avis, Budget and local firms have desks at the airport. Driving is on the left on steep, winding roads, which can be tiring after a long flight.
Minibus to Vieux Fort
Public minibuses stop on the main road just outside the airport complex and reach Vieux Fort in about 10 minutes. They run roughly 6am to 11pm, with few on Sundays, and are awkward with large luggage.
Helicopter to Castries
St Lucia Helicopters has a desk in the terminal and flies a shuttle of about 10 minutes to George F. L. Charles Airport in Castries. It saves the long drive north but needs to be arranged in advance.
