About Zadar Airport

Zadar Airport (ZAD) is the airport for Zadar, on Croatia's Adriatic coast, and for northern Dalmatia. It stands in Zemunik Donji, about 8 km (5 miles) east of Zadar city center, close to the Zadar 2 exit of the A1 highway between Zagreb and Split.

Most flights are seasonal and run from spring to autumn. Ryanair flies the most routes, to cities across the UK, Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia, Poland and Italy, while Croatia Airlines links Zadar with Zagreb and Pula all year. easyJet, Eurowings, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Edelweiss, Brussels Airlines, Luxair, Transavia, Wizz Air, Air Serbia and Scandinavian carriers add summer flights. The airport handled about 1.64 million passengers in 2025. It is also a training base for the Croatian Air Force.

Passengers use one terminal. A new departures section, opened in July 2026, roughly doubled its capacity, and arrivals use the existing building, with the taxi stand directly opposite the arrivals exit.

From the airport, most travelers head into Zadar's Old Town and the hotel area at Borik, to the Gaženica ferry port for the islands, north to Nin, or south along the coast to Sukošan and Biograd na Moru.

Arrival tips for Zadar Airport

Flights from Croatia and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. If you come from outside the Schengen area, such as the UK or Serbia, you go through passport control, where non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES).

Zadar has one passenger terminal, so there is no terminal to choose. Arriving passengers collect their bags in the arrivals area of the existing building, then pass customs into the arrivals hall. If a bag is missing or damaged, report it at the Lost and Found office before you leave. An information desk can help with questions, and car rental desks are close to the terminal.

Outside, the taxi stand is directly opposite the arrivals exit, and taxis run 24 hours a day. The Liburnija airport bus leaves from the bus pickup zone in front of the terminal for Gaženica ferry port, Zadar bus station and the Old Town; its timetable is set month by month around flights. Pre-booked drivers usually meet you as you come out of the arrivals hall.

Croatia is on Central European Time and uses the euro.

Ground transportation
