Airport Transportation in Buenos Aires Costa Rica
Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Buenos Aires Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.
After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.
Our airport transportation in Buenos Aires Costa Rica serves private and charter flights landing at the town's airstrip in Puntarenas, not Buenos Aires in Argentina, and takes you to lodges and homes in town, the Boruca indigenous territory, the Dúrika reserve, La Amistad International Park, San Isidro de El General or the beaches of the South Pacific coast. No airline flies here: if you are arriving on a scheduled flight, book from San José Costa Rica Airport (SJO).
Buenos Aires Costa Rica Airport Transfers
Buenos Aires Costa Rica airport transfers are arranged around your private or charter flight. There is no designated pickup area at the airstrip, so we agree the exact meeting point and time with you before you travel, and your driver follows the arrival time you give us. The price for the whole vehicle is fixed when you book.
Choose a sedan, an SUV or a van and go door to door to a lodge or family home in Buenos Aires, a community in the canton, or a hotel in San Isidro de El General or on the South Pacific coast.
Buenos Aires Costa Rica Airport Shuttle
Our Buenos Aires Costa Rica airport shuttle is a private van for your party only, waiting for your aircraft rather than a timetable. It has room for luggage and field or hiking gear, which suits charter groups, research and conservation teams, and visitors heading to Boruca, Dúrika or La Amistad.
Landing at Buenos Aires Costa Rica Airport
Buenos Aires Airport (BAI, ICAO MRBA) is a small public airstrip in the town of Buenos Aires, head of the canton of the same name in Puntarenas Province, southern Costa Rica. It has one concrete runway of about 960 meters at roughly 370 meters above sea level, with mountains to the northwest through east. This is Buenos Aires in Costa Rica, not the capital of Argentina.
No scheduled airline flies here, so arrivals are private or charter flights. There is no terminal building with immigration or customs: international travelers enter Costa Rica first at an international airport, most often Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) near San José. No designated pickup area is documented at the airstrip.
Costa Rica is on UTC−6 all year and does not use daylight saving time.
Enter Costa Rica elsewhere first
Buenos Aires is a domestic airstrip. International travelers clear immigration at an international airport such as SJO, with a valid passport, and officers may ask for proof of a return or onward trip out of the country.
Agree the meeting point
With no designated pickup area, confirm the exact meeting point and your expected landing time with us before you fly, and tell us if the flight time changes.
Exact addresses
The canton covers more than 2,300 square kilometers, and lodges and communities can be far from town. Give the full name and location of where you are staying; some backroads toward the coast need a 4x4.
Carry some colones
The currency is the Costa Rican colón, so bring some local cash for small purchases.

Is Buenos Aires, Costa Rica the same as Buenos Aires, Argentina?
No. This page is for Buenos Aires Airport (BAI), a small airstrip in the town of Buenos Aires, Puntarenas Province, in southern Costa Rica. Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, has different airports; for Ezeiza (EZE), see our Buenos Aires, Argentina page.
Do airlines fly to Buenos Aires Airport, Costa Rica?
No scheduled airline service was found, and Sansa does not include Buenos Aires in its network. We serve private and charter arrivals here. If you are flying in on an airline, land at Juan Santamaría International Airport and book from our San José Costa Rica page.
Where will my driver meet me at Buenos Aires Airport?
No designated pickup area is documented at the airstrip, so we agree the exact meeting point and time with you before you travel. Tell us your aircraft's expected arrival time and any change to it.
Where is Buenos Aires Airport?
The airstrip is in the town of Buenos Aires itself, head of the Buenos Aires canton in Puntarenas Province, southern Costa Rica, with the Cordillera de Talamanca along the canton's northeastern edge.
Can you take me to Boruca?
Yes. We drive to the Boruca indigenous territory, known for its balsa-wood masks, weavings and the year-end Diablitos festival. Give us your lodging or meeting point when you book.
Can you take me to the Dúrika reserve or La Amistad International Park?
Yes. The Dúrika private reserve is about 17 kilometers northeast of town, and Biolley, near La Amistad, is about 62 kilometers away. Some access roads are rough, so tell us exactly where you are going.
Can you take me to San Isidro de El General or the Pacific coast?
Yes. We go from Buenos Aires to San Isidro de El General and to hotels and rentals on the South Pacific coast. Give the full address when you book.
Can you pick me up at a family home or remote lodge?
Yes. We go to lodges, farms, family homes and communities across the canton. Because it is large and some places are remote, give the full address, directions or a map pin.
Do I go through immigration at Buenos Aires Airport?
No. Buenos Aires is a domestic airstrip. International travelers enter Costa Rica at an international airport, usually SJO near San José, with a valid passport and possibly proof of onward travel.
What if my charter flight is delayed or rescheduled?
Update the new arrival time in Manage your booking as soon as you know it, and your pickup moves with it. Since no airline schedule is published for the airstrip, we rely on the time you give us.
Can I book a ride back to the Buenos Aires airstrip?
Yes. Book a one-way ride to the airstrip or a round trip on one reservation, with your departure time and the agreed meeting point.
Is Airport Transportation the same as Buenos Aires Airport?
No. Airport Transportation is a private transfer service that takes travelers between the airstrip and where they are staying; we do not run the airport. For runway and arrival details, see our Buenos Aires Airport page.
