Airport Transportation in Tulum
Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.
After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.
Our Tulum airport transportation takes you from Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport to Tulum town, the condos and rentals of Aldea Zamá and La Veleta, the beach hotels of the Hotel Zone, and on to Akumal, Puerto Aventuras, Bacalar and Mahahual.
Tulum Airport Transfers
Tulum airport transfers start at the arrivals exit of the single terminal, where your driver waits with a name sign once you have cleared immigration, baggage claim and customs. We track your flight, so the pickup follows your real landing time, and the price for your vehicle is fixed before you fly, from a sedan for two to a van for a family or group with luggage.
Each Tulum airport transfer goes door to door, to a beach hotel by its kilometer marker on the Hotel Zone road, a condo in Aldea Zamá, a villa in Tulum Country Club or a resort in Akumal or Puerto Aventuras. Going farther south to Bacalar or Mahahual? Enter your address in the booking form to see whether a transfer is offered for that route.
Tulum Airport Shuttle
Our Tulum airport shuttle is a private van for your party only, not a shared shuttle that stops at other hotels along the beach road. It leaves when you have your bags, with room for suitcases, strollers and surfboards, and suits families, groups and wedding guests heading to the Hotel Zone or the Riviera Maya.
Landing at Tulum Airport
Tulum International Airport (TQO), officially Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport, sits beside Federal Highway 307 southwest of Tulum and opened in December 2023. Every scheduled flight uses one terminal, with arrivals and baggage claim on the ground floor, so there is no terminal to choose.
International passengers go through Mexican immigration first, where entry is recorded digitally and eligible travelers may use the electronic gates. You then collect your bags from one of four belts, pass customs and walk out into the arrivals area, where taxi booths, the ADO bus desk and car-rental counters wait before the exit.
Quintana Roo is on Eastern Standard Time (UTC−5) all year, with no daylight saving time, so in the US winter Tulum matches New York and in summer it is one hour behind. Mexico uses the peso.
Mexican entry
Most visitors, including US and Canadian citizens, need only a valid passport for a tourist stay. The FMM tourist permit is digital at Tulum airport: immigration records your entry and the days granted, so have your return ticket and accommodation address ready.
TQO, not CUN
Tulum and Cancún are different airports far apart. Check that your ticket says TQO before you book your transfer, and book from Cancún if you land there.
Hotel Zone addresses
Many beach hotels and rentals have no street number. Give the hotel's exact name, its kilometer marker on the Tulum–Boca Paila road, or the condo name and unit in Aldea Zamá or La Veleta.
Pesos and the beach road
Many beach clubs and small businesses take cash only, in pesos. The narrow Hotel Zone road has speed bumps (topes) and slow traffic in the afternoon and evening.

How Tulum Airport pickup works
- 1
Clear arrivals
Immigration, baggage claim, then customs. Representatives can't enter those areas.
- 2
Meet your representative
At the meeting point in your confirmation. Check the company name before getting in.
- 3
Go straight there
No other stops, no other passengers.
Meet at the arrivals exit
Tulum has one terminal. After immigration, baggage claim and customs, walk out through the arrivals area to the meeting point named in your confirmation. Representatives can't enter baggage claim or customs.
Don't accept a ride from someone claiming to know your booking. Check the company name and reservation details before getting in.
Return trips and flight changes
Going back to the airport
Transportation can also be booked from your hotel, resort or vacation rental to Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport. Your pickup time covers the drive plus check-in, security and border procedures, and your airline's instructions come first. Give the correct departure time and terminal when you book.
If your flight changes
We monitor the arrival of the flight on your reservation, but can't find you on a different one. If any of these change, update them in Manage your booking:

Where will my driver meet me at Tulum Airport?
At the arrivals exit of the single terminal, holding a sign with your name, after immigration, baggage claim and customs. Your confirmation names the exact meeting point.
How far is Tulum Airport from Tulum town and the Hotel Zone?
The airport is about 20 km southwest of Tulum town on Highway 307, and the drive usually takes about 30 minutes. Allow 45 to 60 minutes for hotels along the Hotel Zone beach road, where traffic is slow in the afternoon and evening.
Can you take me to hotels in the Tulum Hotel Zone?
Yes. We drive to beach hotels and boutique resorts along the Tulum–Boca Paila road. Give the hotel's exact name or kilometer marker so your driver finds the right entrance.
Can you take me to Aldea Zamá or La Veleta?
Yes. We drive to condos, apartments and villas in Aldea Zamá, La Veleta, Region 15 and Tulum Country Club. Give the building name and unit number, and any gate code.
Can you take me to Akumal or Puerto Aventuras?
Yes. Akumal and Puerto Aventuras are north of Tulum on Highway 307, and we drive door to door to resorts, villas and condos there.
Can you take me to Bacalar or Mahahual?
Bacalar and Mahahual are well south of the airport, past Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Enter your address in the booking form to see whether a transfer is offered for that route; if it is not, contact us before you fly.
Does Tulum Airport have more than one terminal?
No. All scheduled flights use one passenger terminal, with arrivals on the ground floor, so your driver only needs your flight number.
Do you drive to vacation rentals and private homes in Tulum?
Yes. Give the full address or the property name, the unit number and any access details. Where a road is unpaved or closed to cars, your driver stops at the nearest point a vehicle can reach.
Can I book a transfer for a late-night or early-morning flight?
Yes. Book with your real flight number and time, and the pickup is arranged around it. For an early departure, give your flight time so the pickup leaves enough margin for check-in and security.
Should I buy transportation from people offering rides inside Tulum Airport?
There is no need. Booking ahead gives you a confirmed vehicle and meeting point before you land. If someone approaches you in arrivals, check the company name against your confirmation before getting in.
What happens if my flight is delayed or canceled?
We monitor the flight on your reservation, so your driver waits for the actual landing. If your flight number, date or airline changes, or the flight is canceled, update it in Manage your booking so the pickup can be moved.
Can I book a ride back to Tulum Airport?
Yes. Book a one-way departure or a round trip from your hotel or rental, and give your flight number and departure time, so the pickup is set for check-in and security.
I land in Cancún, not Tulum. Can I still book here?
This page is for flights into Tulum (TQO). If your ticket says CUN, book your transfer from Cancún International Airport instead, so your driver waits at the right airport.
Is Airport Transportation the same as Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport?
No. Airport Transportation is a private transfer service that books rides from TQO; we are not the airport or its operator. For airlines, arrivals and other ways to get around, see our Tulum airport page.

Are prices per person or per vehicle?

How many people can a van carry?
It depends on the vehicle. Each vehicle shows its maximum number of passengers and suitcases before you book, so you can choose one that fits your group.
How do I find you at the airport?
Walk all the way out of the airport. You'll see representatives holding boards. Look for the Airport Transportation logo or your name.
What kind of vehicles do you use?
Commonly Toyota Hiace, Volkswagen Transporter, Mercedes Sprinter, Volkswagen Crafter, Chevrolet Tahoe, and Chevrolet Suburban.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We carry insurance with complete liability for all passengers while using our services.

Baby seats are provided with prior notice, subject to availability, one seat maximum per vehicle.
How far in advance should I book?
You can book any time in advance; we suggest one week to one day ahead. Same-day reservations are available.
What payment methods are accepted?
You pay securely online when you book, by credit or debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Payments are processed by Stripe.
Do vehicles have air conditioning?
Yes. For your comfort all our units have air conditioning.
What if my flight is delayed?
During booking we ask for your airline and flight number so we can track delays and wait for you.
Can I make stops during my ride?
Yes, you can add an extra stop to your service during the booking process.
Do children pay differently than adults?
No. Prices are set per passenger range or per vehicle, not per age.
Is my reservation refundable?
Yes. Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your pick-up and you are refunded in full. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before service are not refundable.
Do drivers speak English?
Yes. While their English may not be native-level, drivers have the skills to communicate with passengers.
Are tips mandatory?
Tips are not mandatory but are highly recommended; drivers earn them through service quality.
What currencies are accepted?
All prices are in USD. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts the charge at its own exchange rate.
Are pets allowed?
We can transport domestic pets kept in cages that fit in a normal vehicle.
Is there room for luggage?
Yes. There is plenty of room for one suitcase and one carry-on per person.
What is included in the price?
Every private transfer includes a professional, licensed driver; an insured, well-maintained vehicle; real-time flight monitoring; meet-and-greet service at arrivals; and door-to-door service with no hidden fees added after booking. Your fixed price covers the full route to your destination.
