Airport Transportation in Venice
Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Venice Marco Polo Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.
After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.
Airport transportation in Venice takes you from Marco Polo Airport to Piazzale Roma, the gateway to the historic center, to hotels in Mestre and on the mainland, and to the Marittima cruise terminal.
Venice Airport Transfers
Our Venice airport transfers start in the arrivals hall on the ground floor of the single terminal, just after customs. Your driver tracks your flight and waits with a sign showing your name.
You get a fixed price per vehicle before you fly, in sizes from sedans for couples and business travelers to vans for families and groups. Every Venice airport transfer goes door to door by road: to your hotel in Mestre or on the mainland, to the Marittima cruise terminal, or to Piazzale Roma, the last point cars can reach before the canals.
Staying on the canals? Venice Marco Polo has its own boat dock, about a 10-minute walk from arrivals along a covered walkway signed "Water Transport". A pre-booked private water taxi meets you at the dock and crosses the lagoon in about 30 minutes, often stopping at a landing near your hotel, so you avoid carrying luggage over the bridges from Piazzale Roma. Water taxis are booked separately from our road transfers.
Venice Airport Shuttle
Our Venice airport shuttle is a private van for your party only: it leaves as soon as you are through customs and drives straight to your stop, with no other passengers on board. There is room for suitcases and cruise luggage, so it suits families, groups and cruise passengers heading to the Marittima terminal.
Landing at Venice Airport
Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) sits at Tessera, on the mainland shore of the Venetian Lagoon, within the comune of Venice but outside the historic center. It is operated by SAVE S.p.A.
All flights use one terminal, with arrivals on the ground floor, departures on the floor above, and separate Schengen and non-Schengen areas. If you arrive from outside the Schengen Area, you pass passport control before baggage claim; flights from Schengen countries skip it. You then collect your bags in the arrivals hall and pass customs into the public area, where road transport is right outside and a covered walkway leads to the airport's own water dock.
Venice is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and moves to UTC+2 from late March to late October.
Entry rules
Italy is in the Schengen Area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check passport validity and visa rules for your nationality before you travel.
Marco Polo or Treviso
Some airlines sell Treviso Airport (TSF) as Venice, but it is a separate airport near the city of Treviso. This page is for Venice Marco Polo (VCE); check the code on your ticket before you book.
Reaching a hotel on the canals
No cars go beyond Piazzale Roma. For a hotel in the historic center, either continue from Piazzale Roma on foot, by vaporetto or by water taxi, or pre-book a private water taxi from the airport dock, about 10 minutes' walk from arrivals along the covered walkway signed "Water Transport". Pre-booked water taxi drivers meet you at the dock, not in the arrivals hall, and boats carry only a small group, so check the boat size if you have a lot of luggage.
Fog and high water
Autumn and winter can bring fog and occasional high water (acqua alta) in the historic center.

How Venice Airport pickup works
- 1
Clear arrivals
Immigration, baggage claim, then customs. Representatives can't enter those areas.
- 2
Meet your representative
At the meeting point in your confirmation. Check the company name before getting in.
- 3
Go straight there
No other stops, no other passengers.
Meet in arrivals
Pre-booked drivers usually wait in the arrivals hall on the ground floor, after customs, holding a name sign.
Water taxi pickups
Pre-booked water taxis meet passengers at the airport dock, reached by the covered walkway signed for water transport, about 10 minutes from arrivals.
Don't accept a ride from someone claiming to know your booking. Check the company name and reservation details before getting in.

Where will my driver meet me at Venice Marco Polo Airport?
In the arrivals hall on the ground floor, just after customs, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight, so your driver is there when you land.
How far is Venice Marco Polo Airport from the city center?
The airport is about 7.5 km northeast of the historic center, across the lagoon. By road, Piazzale Roma, the bus terminal at the edge of the old city, is about 15 to 25 minutes away depending on traffic. By water taxi, the trip takes about 30 minutes.
Can you drive me to my hotel in the historic center of Venice?
Cars cannot go beyond Piazzale Roma, because the historic center has no roads. We drive you to Piazzale Roma, and from there you continue on foot, by vaporetto or by water taxi. If you would rather go by boat from the start, a pre-booked water taxi from the airport dock can take you to a landing near your hotel.
Can I pre-book a water taxi from Venice airport?
Yes. Private water taxis leave from the airport's own dock, about a 10-minute walk from arrivals along a covered walkway signed "Water Transport". Pre-booked water taxi drivers meet you at the dock, not in the arrivals hall, and the trip to the historic center takes about 30 minutes. Water taxis are booked separately from our road transfers.
Can you take me to a hotel in Mestre?
Yes. We drive door to door to hotels and apartments in Mestre and elsewhere on the mainland, and to Venice Mestre railway station if you are continuing by train.
Can you take me from Venice airport to the cruise terminal?
Yes. We drive you to the Marittima cruise terminal next to Piazzale Roma, with your luggage in the vehicle the whole way. Some cruises use other ports in the area, so check your embarkation terminal and give it to us when you book.
Is Venice Marco Polo the same as Treviso Airport?
No. Treviso Airport (TSF) is a separate airport near the city of Treviso that some airlines market as Venice Treviso. This page is for Venice Marco Polo (VCE), so check the code on your ticket.

Can you pick me up from an apartment or vacation rental on the mainland?
Yes. Give the full address, apartment number and any access instructions when you book, so your driver can find you without delay.
What do I need to enter Italy at Venice airport?
Italy is in the Schengen Area, so travelers from outside it pass passport control on arrival. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation.
Should I accept rides offered inside the terminal?
No. Use only the official taxi stand or the signed water taxi desk, and look for your pre-booked driver with your name sign in the arrivals hall.
Can I book a ride back to Venice Marco Polo Airport?
Yes. Book a return from your hotel in Mestre or on the mainland, from Piazzale Roma or from the cruise terminal. All flights leave from the same terminal.
