Airport Transportation in Volos
Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Nea Anchialos National Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.
After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.
Our airport transportation in Volos runs from Nea Anchialos National Airport to hotels and apartments in Volos and along its waterfront, to Volos port for ferries to the Sporades, and up to the Pelion villages of Portaria and Makrinitsa above the city.
Volos Airport Transfers
Our Volos airport transfers start just outside the arrivals exit of the small terminal, where your driver waits with a sign showing your name. With only a few seasonal flights, we track yours, so the pickup follows your real landing time.
Choose a vehicle sized for your party, from a sedan for two to a van for a family or group, and each Volos airport transfer goes door to door to your hotel or apartment in Volos, to the port, or to a guesthouse in Portaria or Makrinitsa. Taking a ferry on to Skiathos, Skopelos or Alonissos? We drive you to the port; give us your sailing time when you book. Staying in Tsagarada, Milies or another village farther into Pelion? Enter the address in the booking form: when a vehicle is available for that route, the price shows before you pay; if it does not, contact us before you fly.
Volos Airport Shuttle
Our Volos airport shuttle is a private van for your party only: it leaves as soon as you have your bags and goes straight to your hotel, guesthouse or the port, with no stops for other passengers. There is room for suitcases, hiking gear and strollers, so it suits families and groups heading to Volos or into the Pelion mountains.
Landing at Volos Airport
Nea Anchialos National Airport (VOL), also called Central Greece Airport, is the airport for Volos and the Pelion peninsula in Thessaly. It sits near the town of Nea Anchialos, southwest of Volos, beside the E75 motorway. It is a very small airport with a single terminal, open to civil flights since 1991.
All routes are seasonal: Eurowings to Düsseldorf, Ryanair to Charleroi (Brussels), Smartwings to Brno and Sky Express to Heraklion, with no scheduled flights to Athens or Thessaloniki. Flights from Schengen countries arrive without passport checks; if you come from outside the Schengen area, you go through passport control. With few flights, arrival is quick, and pre-booked drivers meet passengers outside the arrivals exit.
Greece is on Eastern European Time (UTC+2) and switches to UTC+3 for daylight saving time from late March to late October.
Schengen entry
Greece is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Few flights
The airport has only a handful of seasonal flights and limited services, so arrange your ride before you fly.
Pelion village addresses
Many Pelion guesthouses and houses sit on steep lanes and stone paths, so give the guesthouse name, the village and a map pin; your driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach.
Euro and cash
Greece uses the euro; carry some cash for small purchases.
Before you fly to Volos
How Volos Airport pickup works
- 1
Clear arrivals
Immigration, baggage claim, then customs. Representatives can't enter those areas.
- 2
Meet your representative
At the meeting point in your confirmation. Check the company name before getting in.
- 3
Go straight there
No other stops, no other passengers.
Meet outside arrivals
Pre-booked drivers usually meet passengers outside the arrivals exit of the small terminal, holding a name sign.
Don't accept a ride from someone claiming to know your booking. Check the company name and reservation details before getting in.
Return trips and flight changes
Going back to the airport
Transportation can also be booked from your hotel, resort or vacation rental to Nea Anchialos National Airport. Your pickup time covers the drive plus check-in, security and border procedures, and your airline's instructions come first. Give the correct departure time and terminal when you book.
If your flight changes
We monitor the arrival of the flight on your reservation, but can't find you on a different one. If any of these change, update them in Manage your booking:
