About Manuel Márquez de León International Airport

Manuel Márquez de León International Airport, known as La Paz International Airport (LAP), serves La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur, Mexico, on the western shore of the Gulf of California. It is the gateway for the city, its bay and beaches, and the Pacific-coast town of Todos Santos.

Most flights are domestic. Volaris, Viva Aerobus, Aeroméxico and TAR México connect La Paz with Tijuana, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Culiacán, Monterrey, Hermosillo, Mazatlán and Querétaro, among others, and Calafia Airlines uses the airport as a focus city. Alaska Airlines flies to Los Angeles, the only scheduled route to the United States.

The airport has a single passenger terminal that handles domestic and international arrivals and departures, with check-in counters, VIP lounges and a departure concourse with three gates. A separate terminal serves general and executive aviation.

The airport also hosts a Mexican Air Force base and a naval air base, so you may see military aircraft on the field.

Arrival tips for Manuel Márquez de León International Airport

La Paz has one passenger terminal, so every flight arrives in the same building.

If you arrive on an international flight, such as Alaska Airlines from Los Angeles, you clear immigration first. Have your passport and your flight details ready; visitors from many countries do not need a visa, but check the rules for your passport before you travel. After immigration, collect your bags at baggage claim and pass through customs.

Domestic passengers go straight to baggage claim and then out to the arrivals area.

Outside arrivals you will find the car rental counters and the taxi stand. If you booked a transfer, your driver waits for you as you leave the terminal. La Paz runs on Mountain Standard Time, one hour behind Mexico City, so check the local time on your phone before you plan your pickup or onward connections.
