Nea Anchialos National Airport (VOL), also called Central Greece Airport, is the airport for Volos and the Pelion peninsula, in Thessaly, Greece. It sits near the town of Nea Anchialos, about 24 km (15 miles) southwest of Volos city center, beside the E75 motorway. It is a very small airport, with about 41,000 passengers in 2018, the latest year the source gives.
Flights are few and all seasonal: Eurowings to Düsseldorf, Ryanair to Charleroi (Brussels), Smartwings to Brno and Sky Express to Heraklion. There are no scheduled flights to Athens or Thessaloniki.
All flights use a single terminal. The airport opened to civil flights in 1991.
From the airport, most visitors head to Volos, up to the mountain villages and beaches of Pelion, or to Volos port for ferries to Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos.

Arrival tips for Nea Anchialos National Airport
All flights arrive at the single terminal, and arrival is quick because there are few flights. Flights from Schengen countries such as Germany and Belgium arrive without passport checks; if you come from outside the Schengen area, you go through passport control, where non-EU visitors are registered in the EU's Entry/Exit System.
Outside, a bus connects the airport with Volos bus station, and taxis, car rental and pre-booked cars are the other options. Volos is about 24 km away along the E75 motorway. Pelion villages and Volos port take longer, depending on where you are going. Pre-booked drivers usually meet you outside arrivals.
With only a handful of flights, services at the airport are limited, so it is worth arranging your onward transport before you fly.
