About Rex Airlines
Rex Airlines, the trading name of Regional Express, is an Australian regional airline headquartered in Mascot, next to Sydney Airport. It was formed in 2002 from the merger of the regional carriers Hazelton and Kendell, and is part of Regional Express Holdings, which has been owned by the US aviation holding company Air T since December 2025. Rex is not a member of an airline alliance.
Its main bases are Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, and it also flies from Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville and Perth. The network links these cities with regional and remote communities in New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia, including routes operated under state government contracts in Queensland and Western Australia. Many of its routes are not served by any other airline.
The fleet is made up of about 57 Saab 340B turboprops.
Schedules, aircraft assignments, terminals and fare rules can change. Confirm operational details directly with Rex before travel.
