About Da Nang International Airport

Da Nang International Airport (DAD) is the main airport for Da Nang and the central coast of Vietnam. It stands inside the city, about 3 km (2 miles) from the center and the Han River, and is the usual gateway for My Khe Beach, the Son Tra Peninsula, the Marble Mountains and the old town of Hoi An.

Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Bamboo Airways and Sun PhuQuoc Airways link Da Nang with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Lat and other Vietnamese cities. International flights come mostly from South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and Japan, with Korean carriers such as Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and Air Busan, plus Singapore Airlines, Scoot, AirAsia, EVA Air, Starlux Airlines and Emirates. The airport handled about 15.1 million passengers in 2025.

There are two terminals side by side, linked by a covered walkway: Terminal 1 for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights.

From the airport, most travelers head to hotels along the Han River or the beachfront between My Khe and Non Nuoc. Hoi An is about 30 km (19 miles) to the south, roughly 45 minutes by road, and Hue lies to the north beyond the Hai Van Pass.

Arrival tips for Da Nang International Airport

On an international flight you arrive at Terminal 2. Immigration is on the ground floor: have your passport, valid for at least six months with a blank page, and your e-visa or visa exemption ready. If you hold a visa-on-arrival approval letter, go to the Visa on Arrival counter on the same floor before passport control.

Baggage claim follows, with free baggage carts at carousels 1 to 4 and an oversized claim area next to carousel 4 for bikes, golf bags and strollers. SIM card counters and a tourist information desk are in the baggage claim area, and currency exchange and ATMs are in the public arrivals area.

Domestic flights arrive at Terminal 1, where you collect your bags and walk straight out to the arrivals hall.

Outside, official taxis wait just beyond the arrivals halls and ride-hailing cars collect passengers in front of them; tell the app which terminal you are at. Pre-booked drivers wait in the public arrivals area.

Ground transportation

Taxis and ride-hailing cars are quick for the city and the beaches; a pre-booked car is easier for Hoi An, late arrivals and families.

Taxi from Da Nang airport

Official taxis from companies such as Mai Linh, Tien Sa, VinaSun and Xanh SM wait outside the arrivals halls around the clock. The city center and the beaches are a short ride away; carry some cash, since not every company takes cards.

Grab and Xanh SM

Ride-hailing cars collect passengers in front of the arrivals hall; choose Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 in the app. The fare shows before you book, but you may wait for a car at busy times.

City bus

Local buses stop at pillar 2 outside Terminal 1 and pillars 7 and 8 outside Terminal 2, running in the daytime only. They are cheap but slow, with little room for large suitcases.

Bus to Hoi An

A direct daytime bus links the airport with Hoi An. It suits light travelers arriving during the day.

Private transfer

A pre-booked car meets you in the public arrivals area and goes door to door to Da Nang, the beach resorts or Hoi An, useful with luggage, children or a late flight.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Da Nang airport from the city center?

Da Nang International Airport is about 3 km (2 miles) from the city center, so it sits inside the city itself. A taxi or ride-hailing car reaches the Han River area in a few minutes outside rush hour. The beachfront hotels along My Khe are a little farther east, across the river.

How do I get from Da Nang airport to Hoi An?

Hoi An is about 30 km (19 miles) south of the airport, roughly 45 minutes by road. You can take a taxi, a ride-hailing car or a pre-booked transfer straight to your hotel, or a direct daytime bus. Cars cannot enter the walking streets of the Ancient Town, so drivers stop at the nearest point a car can reach.

How many terminals does Da Nang airport have?

Da Nang airport has two terminals side by side. Terminal 1 handles domestic flights and Terminal 2 handles international flights. They are linked by a covered walkway on the landside, so check your ticket and give the right terminal to anyone collecting you, and choose the right building when you fly out.

Which terminal is for international flights at Da Nang airport?

International flights use Terminal 2, which opened in 2017. Immigration is on its ground floor, followed by baggage claim and customs. Domestic flights to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other Vietnamese cities use Terminal 1, so Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air passengers may use either building depending on the flight.

Do I need a visa to fly into Da Nang?

Most travelers need a Vietnamese e-visa, which is open to all nationalities, allows stays of up to 90 days and should be applied for on the official government portal. Citizens of some countries, including several in Europe and Asia, can enter without a visa for a limited stay. Check the current rules for your passport before you fly.

How do I take a taxi from Da Nang airport?

Official taxis wait at the taxi stand just outside the arrivals halls, around the clock, with staff to help you. Companies include Mai Linh, Tien Sa, VinaSun, Hai Van and the electric Xanh SM. Carry some Vietnamese dong, since only some companies take cards, and use only official taxis rather than drivers who approach you inside.

Can I use Grab at Da Nang airport?

Yes. Ride-hailing apps such as Grab and Xanh SM work at Da Nang airport. Choose Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 when you book, since the cars collect passengers in front of each arrivals hall. Check the plate number and driver in the app before you get in, so the ride matches the fare shown.

Is there a bus from Da Nang airport?

Yes. City buses stop at pillar 2 outside Terminal 1 and pillars 7 and 8 outside Terminal 2, and a direct bus runs to Hoi An. They operate in the daytime only and are slow with large suitcases, so most visitors arriving late or with luggage take a taxi, Grab or a pre-booked car.

Where can I change money or buy a SIM card at Da Nang airport?

SIM card counters are in the baggage claim area, so you can buy one before you clear customs. Currency exchange counters handle US dollars, euros, pounds, yen, won and other major currencies, and ATMs are in the public arrivals area on the ground floor. Vietnam uses the dong, and many taxis take cash only.

Are there lounges at Da Nang airport?

Yes. In Terminal 2, the CIP Orchid Lounge near gates 6 and 7 is open to Priority Pass members and paying passengers, and Vietnam Airlines has a Lotus Lounge for eligible business-class and elite passengers. Terminal 1 has its own Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge. The terminals connect only landside, so use a lounge in your departure terminal.

Which airlines fly to Da Nang?

Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Bamboo Airways and Sun PhuQuoc Airways fly domestic routes to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc and other cities. Internationally, Korean carriers such as Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and Air Busan lead, with EVA Air, Starlux Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Scoot, AirAsia, HK Express and Emirates also serving Da Nang.

How do I transfer between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Da Nang airport?

Walk along the covered walkway that links the two terminals on the landside, outside security. If you arrive internationally and continue on a domestic flight, you clear immigration and customs in Terminal 2, then check in again at Terminal 1 unless your airline confirms your bags are checked through to your final stop.

What time zone is Da Nang in?

Da Nang is on Indochina Time, UTC+7, all year round. Vietnam does not use daylight saving time, so the clocks never change. That puts Da Nang one hour behind Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei, and two hours behind Seoul and Tokyo, which helps when you check arrival times on connecting flights.
