About Guadalajara International Airport

Guadalajara International Airport (GDL), officially Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport, serves Guadalajara and the state of Jalisco, Mexico. It lies in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, 17 km southeast of downtown Guadalajara, and is also the arrival airport for Zapopan, Tlaquepaque, Tonalá and the Lake Chapala area.

It is the largest hub of Volaris, which uses it as its main gateway to the United States, and a hub for Viva Aerobus, with Aeroméxico running a focus city here. Domestic flights reach Mexico City, Tijuana, Monterrey, Cancún, Los Cabos and dozens of other cities. International routes go mainly to the United States, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston and California cities such as Fresno, Oakland and Sacramento, with further flights to Canada, Central America, Colombia and Madrid.

All flights use one two-storey terminal. Arrivals and domestic check-in are on the ground floor; departures are upstairs, along a 630-metre concourse with 43 gates in four concourses, A to D. A new terminal is under construction, and the airfield has two parallel runways.

Arrival tips for Guadalajara International Airport

All arrivals are on the ground floor of the single terminal. On an international flight you pass Mexican immigration first; have your passport ready, together with any documents your nationality requires. Domestic passengers go straight to baggage claim.

Collect your bags at the carousel shown for your flight, and report missing or damaged luggage at your airline's desk before you leave the hall. International passengers then go through customs.

The public arrivals area opens onto a commercial corridor with banks, currency exchange, snack kiosks, souvenir shops and car-rental desks. Use the authorized airport taxis or your pre-booked ride, and turn down unsolicited offers of transport inside or just outside the terminal.

Pre-booked drivers wait in the arrivals area or at the meeting point in your confirmation. Construction of the new terminal and access roads may move pickup points, so follow the signs on the day.
