Arrival tips for São Paulo/Guarulhos–Governor André Franco Montoro International Airport
After landing on an international flight you pass through Federal Police immigration and then collect your bags and clear customs (Receita Federal). Citizens of the United States, Canada and Australia need a Brazilian e-visa, obtained online before travel, since April 10, 2025.
Baggage claim is inside each terminal, and the arrivals hall is just past the customs exit. If you land at Terminal 3 but need a domestic connection, check which terminal your next flight uses; Terminal 2 is about a 15-minute walk away, and Terminal 1 needs the people mover or shuttle bus.
Outside arrivals you will find the Guarucoop counters, the official airport taxi with fixed fares set by the Municipality of Guarulhos. Pre-booked drivers usually wait in the arrivals hall holding a name sign. Rideshare pickups are made at the curb of your terminal. Ignore anyone in the hall offering rides, and use only the official taxi counters, an app or a driver you arranged in advance.
São Paulo uses Brasília time (UTC-3) with no daylight saving time, and the currency is the Brazilian real (BRL). Summers from December to March are warm and often rainy.
