About Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways is the national airline of the State of Qatar, founded in November 1993 and flying since January 1994. It is headquartered in Doha, is wholly owned by the State of Qatar through the Qatar Airways Group, and has been a member of the oneworld alliance since October 2013.

Its single hub is Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha, where it connects flights between Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas. For the 2026–2027 winter season the airline serves more than 170 destinations, and it has codeshare agreements with more than 35 airlines.

The fleet of about 279 aircraft (249 passenger and 30 freighter, as of March 2026) is built around the Airbus A350, Boeing 777 and Boeing 787, with Airbus A380s on selected routes.

Schedules, aircraft assignments, terminals and fare rules can change. Confirm operational details directly with Qatar Airways before travel.

Practical information

BaggageCabin bags, checked bags, missing luggage

Qatar Airways baggage allowances depend on the cabin, the fare type, the route and Privilege Club or oneworld status. Your exact allowance is shown in Manage booking.

Carry-on

Economy passengers can bring one piece up to 7 kg (15 lb), or 10 kg (22 lb) on flights to and from Brazil. Business and First passengers can bring two pieces up to 15 kg (33 lb) in total. Each piece can measure up to 50 x 37 x 25 cm (20 x 15 x 10 in).

Checked baggage

Flights to and from the Americas and Africa use a piece allowance: in Economy, one or two bags up to 23 kg depending on fare; in Business and First, two bags up to 32 kg each. Other routes use a total weight allowance that depends on cabin and fare. No single bag can exceed 32 kg.

Special items

Sports equipment, pets, oversized items and medical equipment follow separate rules. Check the official Qatar Airways baggage page before you fly.

Check-in and boardingSteps before departure

Online check-in on qatarairways.com or the Qatar Airways app normally opens 48 hours before departure and closes 90 minutes before. For flights from the United States, and for flights from Doha to the United States, it opens 24 hours before departure.
