About Leeds Bradford Airport

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) is the airport for Leeds and Bradford in West Yorkshire, England, and the main airport for much of Yorkshire. It stands at Yeadon, on high ground about 7 miles (11 km) northwest of Leeds city center and 9 miles (14 km) northeast of Bradford.

Jet2 and Ryanair both have bases here and fly the most routes, mainly to holiday and city destinations across Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Poland and the Canary Islands. Aer Lingus links Leeds Bradford with Dublin and Belfast City, KLM flies to Amsterdam, easyJet adds Barcelona, Paris and Belfast International, and Wizz Air, TUI Airways, SunExpress and Aurigny fly further routes. The airport handled about 4.2 million passengers in 2024.

All flights use one terminal, with check-in Hall A for most airlines and Hall B for Jet2. A terminal extension opened in 2025 with a larger departure lounge and a new arrivals area, and the refurbishment of the older building continues.

From the airport, most travelers head into Leeds, usually about 25 to 35 minutes by road, or to Bradford in about 25 minutes. Others continue to Harrogate, Ilkley and Otley, to York, or into the Yorkshire Dales.

Arrival tips for Leeds Bradford Airport

International flights arrive at UK passport control, run by Border Force. Unless you hold a British or Irish passport or a UK visa, you need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) approved before you fly, and that includes EU and US citizens. Flights from Ireland, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands are inside the Common Travel Area and do not usually go through full passport checks.

After passport control you collect your bags in the baggage claim hall. If a bag is missing or damaged, Swissport handles lost luggage on the ground floor of the terminal. Then use the green channel if you have nothing to declare, or the red channel if you do, and walk out into the arrivals hall.

Leeds Bradford has one terminal, so there is no terminal to choose. Pre-booked drivers usually meet passengers in the arrivals hall and walk with them to the Pick Up & Drop Off parking lot, about a minute away. FLYER buses to Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate stop outside the terminal, and Arrow Cars, the official taxi partner, has a kiosk in International Arrivals.

The UK uses pounds sterling and is on GMT in winter and BST (GMT+1) in summer.

Ground transportation

FLYER buses are the cheapest way into Leeds or Bradford; a taxi or pre-booked car is easier with luggage, late at night or for towns off the bus routes.
