About Ryanair
Ryanair is an Irish low-cost airline headquartered in Swords, County Dublin. The company was incorporated in 1984 and flew its first route, Waterford to London Gatwick, in 1985. The airline is operated by Ryanair DAC and belongs to Ryanair Holdings plc, a group that also includes Buzz, Lauda Europe, Malta Air and Ryanair UK. Ryanair is not a member of any airline alliance.
The group runs a point-to-point network from about 95 bases, serving more than 220 airports in around 35 countries across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Its main bases are Dublin, London Stansted and Milan Bergamo, with large operations in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Poland and the Canary Islands. Many routes are seasonal, especially to Mediterranean and Greek island airports.
The group fleet of about 650 aircraft is built around the Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8-200, with Airbus A320s flown by Lauda Europe.
Schedules, aircraft assignments, terminals and fare rules can change. Confirm operational details directly with Ryanair before travel.

Airbus A320

Practical information
BaggageCabin bags, checked bags, missing luggage
Ryanair baggage allowances depend on the fare bundle and the extras you add. Weigh and measure your bags before you go to the airport.
Every passenger can bring one small bag of up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm that fits under the seat in front.
A 10 kg bag of up to 55 x 40 x 20 cm for the overhead bin is included with Priority, Regular and Flexi Plus, or can be added.
10 kg and 20 kg check-in bags are sold as extras or included in some bundles. Drop them at the bag-drop desk before security.
Sports equipment, musical instruments and medical equipment follow separate rules. Check the official Ryanair help center before you fly.
Check-in and boardingSteps before departure
Online check-in on ryanair.com or the Ryanair app opens 24 hours before departure for passengers without a reserved seat, and up to 60 days before for passengers with one. It closes 2 hours before departure. Ryanair uses digital boarding passes in its app.
Confirm the departure airport and terminal. Several cities have more than one Ryanair airport.
Review passport, visa and entry requirements for your destination.
Check in online or in the app within the check-in window.
Download the digital boarding pass in the Ryanair app.
Allow time for bag drop, security and, on non-Schengen flights, passport control.
Lounges
Ryanair does not operate its own airport lounges. Some airports sell independent lounge access separately. Fast-track security is included with some bundles where available.
Loyalty program
Ryanair does not have a points-based frequent-flyer program and does not belong to an alliance, so flights do not earn miles with partner airlines. Its Prime subscription trial closed to new members in November 2025. Check ryanair.com for current offers.

Ryanair airports
Ryanair does not use a hub-and-spoke model. It flies point to point from about 95 bases, so most routes do not connect through a central hub. Several cities have more than one Ryanair airport (for example Paris Beauvais, Brussels Charleroi or Milan Bergamo), so check the airport on your ticket before you book a transfer.
