About Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) is the main international airport of Singapore, at the eastern end of the island. It is the home base of Singapore Airlines and its low-cost subsidiary Scoot, and more than 100 airlines link it with about 170 cities. Its busiest routes run to Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Bali and Hong Kong, and long-haul flights reach Europe, North America, Australia and the Middle East.

Changi has four passenger terminals, T1 to T4. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are linked by the free Skytrain and connect to Jewel, a mall and garden complex next to T1, while T4 is reached by shuttle bus. Terminal 5 is under construction and not yet open.

The airport is about 24 km east of the city center. A taxi to the Marina Bay and City Hall area takes about 20 to 30 minutes, and the MRT station between T2 and T3 connects to the East West Line.

From Changi, most travelers head to Marina Bay, the Orchard Road area, Chinatown, Sentosa and the cruise terminals, or travel on to Johor Bahru across the border in Malaysia.

Arrival tips for Singapore Changi Airport

All foreign visitors must submit the free SG Arrival Card on the ICA website or the MyICA app within three days before arrival, including the day you land. Immigration at Changi uses automated lanes for many passport holders, and the arrival halls for T1 to T4 are signposted from the gate.

Baggage claim comes right after immigration, followed by customs. Check which terminal your flight uses, as each has its own arrival hall and transport exits.

Once in the arrival hall, follow the signs to the taxi stand, the MRT (from T2 and T3) or the public bus stops. Private cars and ride-hailing vehicles pick up at the marked Arrival Pick-up areas of each terminal, such as Basement 1 at T1 and T3. Drivers may not wait at the kerb, so check where your driver will meet you. A Ground Transport Concierge counter in every arrival hall can arrange a car.

Singapore is hot and humid all year, with frequent afternoon showers. Local time is Singapore Standard Time (UTC+8) and the currency is the Singapore dollar (SGD).

How do I get between terminals at Changi Airport?

The free Skytrain links T1, T2 and T3 in both public and transit areas and runs from about 5 am until about 2 am. You can also walk between T2 and T3 on a link bridge or between T1 and T3 by travelator. Terminal 4 is reached by a free shuttle bus, about 10 minutes from T2.

Where are the taxis at Changi Airport?

Each terminal has a signposted taxi stand outside its arrival hall, and taxis operate 24 hours. Singapore taxis are metered and regulated, with surcharges at night and at peak times. Johor Bahru lies across the Johor Strait from northern Singapore. Travelers reach it by road through the Woodlands or Tuas checkpoints, clearing Singapore and Malaysian immigration on the way. What is the weather, time zone and currency in Singapore?

Singapore has a tropical climate that is hot and humid all year, with frequent showers, especially in the afternoon. It uses Singapore Standard Time (UTC+8) with no daylight saving time. The currency is the Singapore dollar (SGD), and cards and contactless payments are accepted almost everywhere.
