easyJet, Ryanair and Jet2.com run the largest networks, with flights across Europe and to leisure destinations in Spain and the Canary Islands. Long-haul routes include Emirates to Dubai, Qatar Airways to Doha, Turkish Airlines to Istanbul, and United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Air Canada and WestJet to North America.

All flights use a single terminal, with the tram stop and bus stops on the plaza outside.

Arrival tips for Edinburgh Airport

International arrivals pass through UK border control; the UK is not part of the Schengen Area, and most visa-exempt visitors, including EU nationals, need a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) approved before travel. Flights from elsewhere in the UK and Ireland arrive without passport checks.

After border control you collect your bags in the reclaim hall and walk through customs into arrivals.

Outside, the plaza with the large Edinburgh sign leads to the tram stop and the Airlink 100 bus stop. The official taxi rank, run by Capital Cars, is in the East Terminus a short walk away; follow the taxi signs. Rideshare and many pre-booked cars collect passengers from the pick-up zone on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park, so check where your driver will meet you before you land.

Edinburgh weather is cool and changeable all year, so carry a waterproof layer. The UK uses the pound sterling and is on Greenwich Mean Time, moving to British Summer Time from late March to late October.

Ground transportation

The tram and the Airlink 100 bus suit most travelers going to central Edinburgh, while a taxi or private transfer is easier with heavy luggage or outside tram hours.
