About Icelandair
Icelandair is the flag carrier of Iceland. It traces its roots to Flugfélag Akureyrar, founded in Akureyri on 3 June 1937, and took the Icelandair name in 1979. The airline is owned by Icelandair Group and is headquartered in Hafnarfjörður. Icelandair is not a member of an airline alliance; it works with partners such as Alaska Airlines, JetBlue and ITA Airways through codeshare and other agreements.
Its hub is Keflavík International Airport (KEF), about 50 km from Reykjavík, where flights between North America and Europe connect. Domestic flights within Iceland use Reykjavík Airport. The network covers around 60 destinations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Iceland. Through the Icelandair Stopover, passengers flying between North America and Europe can spend up to seven nights in Iceland at no extra airfare.
The fleet of about 44 aircraft is made up of Boeing 737 MAX jets, Airbus A321LRs, Boeing 757s and 767s, and Dash 8 turboprops for domestic and regional routes.
Schedules, aircraft assignments, terminals and fare rules can change. Confirm operational details directly with Icelandair before travel.

Practical information
BaggageCabin bags, checked bags, missing luggage
Icelandair baggage allowances depend on the fare, cabin, route and Saga Club status. Flights to Greenland, the Faroe Islands and within Iceland have their own rules.
Every passenger can bring a personal item that fits under the seat in front. Whether a larger carry-on for the overhead bin is included depends on fare. Size and weight limits are shown in your booking and on icelandair.com.
Checked bags are included on some fares and not on others. Saga Premium, Saga Gold and Saga Silver members, children and travelers with mobility equipment have additional allowances. Allowances depend on fare and route.
Sports equipment, pets, oversized items and medical equipment follow separate rules. Check the official Icelandair baggage page before you fly.
Check-in and boardingSteps before departure
Online check-in on icelandair.com or the Icelandair app opens 24 hours before departure for all destinations. At Keflavík, Copenhagen and Billund you can print bag tags and drop bags at self-service stations. Follow the check-in and bag-drop deadlines shown in your booking.
Confirm the operating airline, airport and terminal.
Review passport, visa and entry requirements for your destination, and for Iceland if you plan a stopover.
Check in online or in the app as soon as it opens.
Download the mobile boarding pass or print it.
Allow time for bag drop, security and, on international flights, passport control.
Lounges
Icelandair operates the Icelandair Saga Lounge at Keflavík International Airport. Access depends on cabin, fare, Saga Club status and the itinerary; access to partner lounges at other airports is limited to certain fares. Check the location and opening hours before you travel.
Loyalty program
Saga Club is the loyalty program of Icelandair. Members earn points on Icelandair flights and with program partners, and use them for flights and other rewards; Saga Silver and Saga Gold are the program's status tiers. Program rules change, so check your account for the conditions that apply to your trip.
