About Zagreb Franjo Tuđman Airport

Zagreb Franjo Tuđman Airport (ZAG) is the main airport of Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. It is the hub of Croatia Airlines and handled about 4.7 million passengers in 2025.

Croatia Airlines flies to Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar and Pula and to cities across Europe, including Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam, Paris and Vienna. Ryanair, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways and flydubai also serve the airport, with seasonal flights to Toronto and Seoul.

All flights use a single passenger terminal, opened in 2017, with arrivals on the ground floor and departures on the first floor.

The airport sits in Velika Gorica, about 10 km southeast of Zagreb's main railway station. The drive into the city usually takes 20 to 30 minutes, and an airport bus runs to the main bus station.

From the airport, most travelers head into central Zagreb. Others continue by road to Plitvice Lakes National Park, Rijeka and the Kvarner coast, Split and Zadar, or across the border to Ljubljana in Slovenia.

Arrival tips for Zagreb Franjo Tuđman Airport

If you arrive from outside the Schengen area, you pass passport control before baggage claim; flights from Schengen countries arrive without passport checks, since Croatia joined Schengen in 2023. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation.

Baggage claim is on the ground floor, and a visitor information point is nearby. After customs, you walk into the arrivals hall, where car rental desks line the hall and pre-booked drivers usually wait as you come out.

Taxis wait outside the terminal, and the Pleso Prijevoz airport bus to Zagreb's main bus station leaves from in front of arrivals. Uber pickups are on the upper level of the terminal.

Zagreb has hot summers and cold winters. Croatia uses Central European Time with daylight saving time, and the currency is the euro, in use since 2023.
