Arrival tips for Faro - Gago Coutinho International Airport
If you arrive from outside the Schengen Area, including from the United Kingdom, you go through passport control before baggage claim. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation.
After collecting your bags and passing customs, you come out into the arrivals hall of the single terminal.
Pre-booked drivers usually wait in the arrivals hall holding a name sign. Licensed taxis queue outside the arrivals hall; use the rank rather than offers made inside the building. For the city bus, turn left outside toward the short-stay car park, where the stop is just beyond the drop-off area. Uber and Bolt pickups use the Kiss and Fly drop-off area nearby, though waits can be long in peak season.
Summers in the Algarve are hot and dry and winters are mild. The time zone is Western European Time (UTC+0, UTC+1 in summer) and the currency is the euro.
